The laboratories of the research group are located in the Colville and John Anderson buildings of the University of Strathclyde. The main entrances are on North Portland Street and the Rottenrow East respectively. Heavy goods deliveries to the Colville building may be made via the loading bay with its entrance on Richmond Street or to the Faculty of Science workshop at the Richmond Street end of the Anderson building. Most of the staff have offices on the sixth and seventh floors of the Colville building. It is useful to be aware that University room numbers are preceded by a prefix identifying the building. Two codes are in common use for both the Colville (prefixes E or Col) and John Anderson Buildings (prefixes K and JA).

The University campus is located in the centre of Glasgow within easy reach of Central (serving mostly the South and South West) and Queen Street (Mainly serving the North and East) railway stations and Buchanan Street Bus station. Intercity express train services are provided by ScotRail, Virgin and National Express East Coast. ScotRail and the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive (SPT) also provide intensive commuter services. Timetabling information for Railway services is available from National Rail Enquires.

Fast road links are available to Glasgow (Abbotsinch) and Edinburgh (Turnhouse) airports from where a wide range of airlines offer internal, continental and intercontinental services. Bus services operate between Glasgow airport and both Buchanan bus station and Paisley Gilmore Street railway station. Prestwick international airport, on the Ayrshire coast is also nearby and enjoys high speed rail connections throughout ayrshire and to Glasgow Central. In the near future both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports should also be directly connected with the railway network.
